Has it always been plain sailing for me?

At the age of 33 I started to put on weight and by the time I was 37 I had gained something in the region of 14 kgs.

That is when I decided to take action. I joined an athletic club and took up long distance running. I was now back in competitive sports again. As a young man I had kept myself really fit as an amateur boxer, now at the age of 33 I was pounding the streets. Most weeks I would run about 70 miles+.

It did the trick, the weight came off and when I was 40 I peaked as a runner.

A year later the weight started to pile up again. I was still doing all the miles on the road training for about 10 hours a week.

The turning point came for me when I was 46. A PT client of mine, who was also a medical doctor advised me to lose some weight as at the time I was suffering from joint pain.

Really?

Here is someone who was paying my bills so that I could help him get fit and healthy, telling me that I need to lose weight myself.

How good does that look?

What action did I take?

I decided to get qualified in nutrition and build up my skill levels and improving some habits.

I have never in my life considered following any diet. That was never an option for me,

Too many rules for me, I would never be able to stick to that for long.

Now my journey has taken me to being a nutrition coach and I have made it my mission to help as many people as possible to build skills that can help them to get lean and to stay lean forever.

The photo was taken in 2005 in Margate. I was too embarrassed to take off my T-shirt.
